Ode to Baby J

From the author and mother Karen …
‘Twas our 19.5 week checkup and our excitement was stirred.
Seeing our sweet little baby, enthusiasm & blessing are a few of many feelings that occurred.
The heart beating on the monitor bred thankfulness through our veins.
Seeing eyes, lips, a nose, fingers, and toes does something of the same.
Hearing the heartbeat is music; it’s quickly become a favorite sound…
The blessing of a life-filled body, what a joy to see arms & legs moving around!
For twelve minutes we watched the baby moving on the screen,
But whether a baby boy or baby girl, we opted not to glean.
Talks and thoughts we shared and after ten more days,
Back to the doctor to find out… either way we would be filled with praise.
On our forty-five month anniversary, a healthy baby is a delight to our excited eyes.
After twenty minutes of viewing, the sound sleeping was an amusing surprise.
A profile in view, arms strewn up and down, legs crossed at the ankles, and we must say
Those little feet were the first movement felt; they had been kicking throughout the day.
Orange juice to awaken the baby, the doctor in to view then to share with us and announce
That we are expecting a baby girl, a sweet and amazing blessing; we already love every ounce!
The baby is continuing to grow and develop; she looks healthy and strong.
And for your part, we thank you for sharing in this journey; we’re so glad to have you along.
So in the next few months and come December, expect pink and frills and lots of fun,
Sports and flowers, bows and laughter… it has only just begun!

Awoke at 4am!

An unbelievable thing happened today! I actually fell asleep at 10pm last night! As a result, when I awoke at 4am this morning … I was done sleeping and I woke up for the day! For a night owl, this was a very unusual experience!!! Not to mention, that the night before I had gone to bed at 4AM! Woke up yesterday morning at 10am after 6 hours of sleep as well. Alas … tonight it is now almost 1am and I guess yesterday may have not been a glimpse of things to come after all. Maybe one day …
