J Baby is Flexible!
Baby J seems to be doing quite well!

We went to the doctor yesterday and got to see our little girl. Her heart was beating, so we were thrilled. The technician was good to us as she let us look at our sweet baby for about ten minutes on screen and record it on dvd. Her little face looks more developed than when we went earlier this month. The tech measured her head, abdomen, an arm, and a leg. We were told she seems to be healthy and well and the tech estimated she’s about 6 lbs. 12 oz. right now (again, that number comes with plenty of room for fluctuation). We and the tech were amused as she had her foot up in her face again… seems babies are very flexible in the womb and in general. She is due December 1st, which is just over four weeks away. We are very excited at the thought of getting to meet our little girl. Please keep all three of us in your thoughts and prayers during this exciting time.

W Fam Updates … Wraps

Posted by Sue on October 29, 2006

Missy sends more news of how amazing wraps are!

I feel like Aaron is now sleeping more like he should because of the wraps.  He is now sleeping at times that he would formerly fight sleep.  In fact, I was just vacuuming with him on me and he was ASLEEP!  It’s amazing.  He also slept through all of church this morning - including the drums!  He slept through all of Miriams’ birthday party too.  Both those time he was in his carseat which is his second favorite place to sleep.

W Fam Updates … A Smile?!?

Posted by Sue on October 28, 2006

Tough night for Missy but a great morning!

Last night at the S Fam home we did use the wrap and he barely cried at all!  Mostly he cried when he got hungry.  I also had my first migraine in a LONG time.  I am doing better this morning but it was not very pretty last night.  This morning I was smiling and talking with Aaron and I asked him to smile and he gave me this crooked grin - it was great!

Aaron’s sleeping habits …

Aaron slept another almost five hour stretch from 11 until 4 last night.  I took advantage of that one!  He actually falls asleep if we go out in the morning.  If we stay here he just keeps waking himself up - which is one reason I try to run some kind of errand in the mornings - it helps my sanity and he actually sleeps!

Slings …

I did get a second “babywearing” device. It is a wrap which is about 5 yards of cloth that you can wrap in a variety of ways to carry him. I used it on Tuesday and he seemed to like it okay.  I think I will use it tomorrow at the birthday party.  That way he’s not on the ground but I don’t have to hold him in my arms the whole time.  We did take a stroller ride around the block yesterday and that seemed to relax him as well.  Although, it did get a little warm.

For the first time, my daughter tried leaving her son with Dad for the better part of a morning while she attended a meeting.  The result …

Well Aaron cried almost the whole time I was gone this morning and would not take the bottle I left for him.  So, we are going to have to work on that.  The meeting was pretty good - it was good to feel like an adult for a little while.

Aaron’s mother used to cry for hours on end when she was a four month old and I tried to leave her with others.  Her grandmother came halfway across the country to rescue me!  She managed to convince Missy that she could get by without Mom for awhile.  Like mother … like son!!!

Adventure …

Today Aaron went to daddy’s work. It went okay - except that it was at the beginning of nap time and he didn’t fall asleep so he was pretty tired and fussy by the time we left.

Slings …

I got my second baby carrier today.  It is a wrap (one long piece of cloth) that you can tie in a bunch of ways to hold baby on.  So we’ll see if he likes it.  He does like the sling - for short periods of time - but he likes you to be up and moving in it.  The wrap can hold him more on my chest so I might be able to sit and type with him on me - we’ll see.

Baby massage …

Aaron has started liking the baby massage.  He now lets me do almost the whole thing and it does help him calm down … especially when I massage his back.

A Good Check Up!

Today I went for my 6 week check up and all seems to be well.  I am now cleared to exercise and live a normal life (somewhat - in the midst of sleep deprivation).  They did not have a scale to weigh Aaron BUT we did the old how much does mom weigh - how much does she weigh with baby.  It seems that he is now between 12 and 13 pounds.  No wonder everyone thinks he’s so big - he is!   Aaron is also beginning to smile a little when you talk with him - it is very encouraging!

Can’t wait for the first photo of Aaron smiling!!!
