W Fam Updates … Through the Night!

Posted by Sue on November 27, 2006

Aaron did it!

Last night he went to bed around 9:30 and he didn’t get up until 5:50 this morning!!  One book I was looking at this weekend said that they can start going for 8 hour stretches - he did it!  I am not expecting this to become a pattern - but I hope it does.  This morning it also looks like he was trying to pull one of the bears to his mouth for him to check it out.  He’s not doing this consistently but it looks like he was trying.  He is growing up!

What a great development for Mommy!?!

W Fam Updates

Back to normal …

Aaron cried/yelled at dad most of the morning while I was at the board meeting.  Then he rode in the car with me to the shower - fell asleep and slept for almost 4 hours!  Ironically, Peter traded the now sleeping Aaron for the crazy antics of the 3 S children.  So, he was a little tired tonight.  Other than yelling all this morning, Aaron is doing well.  He is now sleeping for a good 4 hour+ stints at night.  So the past two nights I’ve fed him between 10 and 11 and really only gotten up once and he’s woken up between 7 and 8!  So this is a happy development!  He has also discovered that sucking his fist is comforting.  So now it is hard to tell if he is hungry or just sucking because it feels good.  I guess if he doesn’t go into hysterics soon after starting to suck it means he is just comforting himself.  Today we let him play with his new gym.  He really enjoyed watching mommy set it up. He mostly stared at one of the posts once I put him where he could play.  He did kick and hit the ball which I think he liked.  I chose this one because it did have something that they can kick and get a response from - most of them just have things for baby to hit with their hands.  So we’ll keep playing with this.  Little man has fallen asleep in the wrap and I am going to attempt to transfer him to his bed.  We’ll see how this works.  He was much warmer in his blanket outfit - it at least made mommy feel better.

Ain’t that the truth … and always will be!?!

J Fam Updates … 38 Weeks

Posted by Sue on November 17, 2006

Reversal of Fortune?!? NOT!!!

Karen chimes in with the results of her 38 week doctor’s appointment …

We went to the doctor yesterday and got to see our little girl on the ultrasound machine one more time. We are so excited that she seems to be healthy and doing well! Her heart was beating at a HR of 130. We got to see part of her sweet little face; the rest of it was covered by the placenta, which the technician called her “pillow.” I have attached a picture showing the front of her face. (Editor: Hope to have that for you one day soon.)  You may be able to make out her right eye, her nose, and the right part of her lip. That’s her left hand on top of the placenta. The doctor gave us some weight estimates but said the most accurate response he can give us is that she is currently “bigger than average.”  As for me, I am 1.5 - 2 cm dialated, 50-60% effaced, and the baby is fully engaged. We are 38 weeks today and are very excited about our little girl!

The grandparents are VERY excited as well!

W Fam Updates

Posted by Sue on November 16, 2006

Mom got what Dad had last week including the 100 degree fever.  Seems she is doing a little better as she sent a message this evening.

I think/hope that the fussy stage is behind him.  The past few days he’s been doing MUCH better at night - barely crying at all. Right now he is hanging out in his swing and he’s a pretty happy guy.  Earlier he was smiling at me as I tried to suction his nose!  He was REALLY fussy this morning though - so maybe it’s a trade off.  He just wouldn’t go to sleep!  I think he is also figuring out more about his hands.  He opens them more and actually sort of reached out to grab a blanket today.  We both slept a lot this afternoon though.  I took him for a ride in the car and he was out from about 1 until a little after 5!  I slept from 2 until about 5 - so that was good.  I still think I have a low grade fever - but the rest was good.  So far he doesn’t have a fever - he’s just stuffy - but he has been for a few days.

Software for Non-Profits

web software for non-profits and associations: events, member database, donations, website … looks interesting.  Not sure how much it costs.  Looks to be reasonable though.

W Fam … Aaron is 2 Months Old!

Posted by Sue on November 11, 2006

I'm 2 months old!

Mom reports on baby’s two month checkup …

We went to the doctor this morning (Monday the 12th) and he officially weighs 14 lbs. and 10 oz.  Big guy!!  He is in the 90th percentile for height and weight (he is now 24 1/2 inches long).  He did get his shots.  They are actually knocking him out - he is sleeping not fussy.  So that’s nice.  He was pretty fussy yesterday - never settled down for a great nap.  We did get a humidifier to help with the stuffy nose and it is helping.  The doctor says he looks like he’s doing really well.

W Fam … Aaron’s First Road Trip!

Posted by Sue on November 10, 2006

4 Generations of the W Fam
Grandmother W came to town for a visit last Monday.  Missy, Susan and Aaron took off to visit the great-grandparents in the Ft Worth area along with the rest of the relatives in the area.  Following is a quick rundown on how things went.

He slept all the way there and all the way back.  He was happy for about an hour after he ate and then would FREAK out and did not want to go to sleep.  We all tried to hold and calm him.  Marna had a GREAT time seeing him - she was excited to have a little baby around.  We got to meet Gabrielle and she is precious (born in July).   He was awake this morning from 3 until 5 and then up again at 6.  Fortunately Susan watched him from about 6 to 8 for me so that I could rest and take a shower - he was just crying up a storm!  He is happy to be home as evidenced by his smiling, cooing and playing with his toys.

ALL the Cousins!
Sounds just like his mother’s first road trip!

W Fam Updates … Smiles and Toes!!!

Posted by Sue on November 7, 2006

Oh my … I can’t wait to visit our grandson again!

Aaron barely slept at all yesterday and then today he slept most of the day.  We were home all day yesterday and out most of today - I just don’t get it.  Anyway, Peter’s mom did arrive safely yesterday.  Today Susan and I went shopping most of the day.  We did get a cute Christmas outfit - he looks a little like a candy cane in it.  It was a lot of fun.  Tomorrow we’ll leave for Fort Worth between 9 and 10 am.  It should be a pretty day to drive.  Aaron sort of discovered his toes today - he kept on looking at them this morning.  He is smiling more and today he really seemed to be aiming at one of his little bears over his bouncer.  He is really alert when he is awake and still fights sleep like crazy.  The wrap does help him go to sleep though.  Again - he had been crying for quite some time while  I was holding him.  I wrapped him up and he fell asleep within 3 minutes - no lie!
