W Fam Updates … 6 Month Checkup
Posted by Sue on March 19, 2007
Missy took Aaron to his 6 month checkup today. Seems his rash was a yeast infection so they received cream to handle that minor issue. As far as his weight and height, Aaron is now ”19 lbs. 7 oz. (with a diaper on) and 29 1/2 inches tall!” This height is off the charts as 28 1/2 inches is 95th percentile! Grow on, little man!!!

You Never Know …
Posted by Sue on March 7, 2007
So … we have an appointment to sign the contract on Tuesday evening but the realtor isn’t showing up. They finally call and they are not showing up because they haven’t received the contract yet. Since it is already late, there is no reason to be calling the other agent. We awaken at 5am this morning (OK … so Jake is already awake and he just gets me up at 5am) for our journey to Arkansas. We have appointments Thursday and Friday and decide to leave town anyways. I am basically tired of waiting for this buyer to do anything. Whatever happens, happens … or not!?!
We received another call Tuesday evening from the Centralized Showing Service that asks if they can show the house on Wednesday morning. After consulting our agent, we understand that the house should be shown until a signed contract is in hand. We were going to make certain that the blinds were all open and the house was clean for showing as it has become a habit these days.
Fast forward to Wednesday again and our agent returns a call about lunch time which advises us that the other agent still hasn’t received the contract from the buyer. They are supposedly still getting their act together. OK, patience is a virtue! And, oh by the way, the people who looked at the house this morning have a couple of questions. So we go over the questions with our agent and discover that she knows more about our area than we do. Guess that is why we hired them, right?
Fast forward another couple of hours and the real estate agent is on the phone yet again. No contract from the first buyer BUT she has a contract in hand from the people who looked at the house this morning and the offer is for $5000 MORE than the first offer! Goodness gracious! God is not only good but also in charge!!! I have been counting on Him throughout this process and, as always, He seems to know what He is doing. This selling experience has been interesting to say the least!!!

Here’s to the Wife and Kids!!!
Posted by Sue on March 5, 2007
We have been in a negotiation concerning the sale of our home for about a week now. Obviously, the buyer was looking for the best price he could get. We had finally agreed to accept his last offer but he had already started searching for another home. He decided to pull the offer off the table entirely. So … the negotiations had failed and we were getting ready to move on with life having learned some valuable lessons in what is just a really bad resale market here in the northwest corner of Houston.
Well … about 4pm today I get a phone call from the centralized showing office. It is the aforementioned buyer wanting to come back for a second showing. And he is minutes from the house. Just as with their previous showing, I can’t even get out of the driveway since they are already here and have chosen to park in the driveway. So, it is off on a walk for me to get out of their way. About 2 hours later, our realtor calls to say that the house has sold! THANK YOU, GOD!!! Apparently the husband was the sole holdout. The wife, the kids, the grandparents ALL wanted our home but the husband had said no. He obviously gave in today so here’s to the wife and kids!!!
Any and all prayers that this sale will indeed result in a closing will be greatly appreciated! Haven’t seen the closing date yet, but the last one was March 15th! Jake and I were preparing to move quickly. Don’t think they will quite expect that now that more than a week has transpired since the original offer was made. However, it will be fairly quickly. We have already found apartments in Houston to rent for the duration.
