J Fam Updates … Aaron is Sick!

Posted by Sue on April 29, 2007

Aaron is sick with a fever for the very first time!  Fortunately, he took the Baby Tylenol without a problem and it seems to help.  Come Monday morning, he seems to be doing fine so hopefully it was nothing to worry about!  Thank God!!!

It’s a little chilly today …

Posted by Sue on April 26, 2007

here in Arkansas!  According to Yahoo, it is 50 degrees but I haven’t opened the doors to feel how cool it might actually be!  In the house though, it was a chilly 66 downstairs before I turned the heat on.

Now I need to expand on that thought a little.  It is funny how the 66 feels so GREAT when it is approaching 80 upstairs!  HOWEVER when it is only 69 upstairs, it feels a little chilly!  It does NOT feel as cold as it did when I was here in the winter and it was in the 20s outside … THANK GOD!!!

So I turned on the heat.  WOW … it actually warmed up the house as opposed to how cool it still felt when the heat pumps were trying their best to warm up the house when it was SO cold outside this past winter.  It feels GREAT!!!  And I only have the thermostats set at 70 upstairs and 68 downstairs.  Since they have warmed the inside to those temps, I haven’t heard them come on again.  That will change as it cools off outside this evening!

So there you have the weather report for the day!  Oh BTW … do you think that the fact that I am wearing all this polartec clothing has anything to do with how nice and warm I feel?!?

W Fam Updates … Some Aaron Firsts

Posted by Sue on April 25, 2007

Missy has passed along the following “firsts” for Aaron on her blog today.

Drinking from a cup - Today we tried our sippy (again) and a regular cup that’s sized for my little one. He did much better with the cup his size. I even gave him a little apple juice for the first time. I think he liked the taste of it - but he’s not really swallowing very much - mostly he spit it out. He did manage to blow a few bubbles in his glass.

To the Alamo - We also went with a few of our friends to the Alamo today. Actually, to the grounds of the Alamo - we didn’t go inside. It was a gorgeous day (83 degrees) after a really horrible rain storm last night (possibly 10 - 12 inches in some areas!). This week we are in the midst of Fiesta - the week when San Antonio throws itself a party. Today there was an art show of sorts down at the Alamo. It was a great day to be outside and enjoy the weather.

Laid down in the tub - Today he did this on his own. He normally is supported by my arm - but he sort of got himself down there before I could get to him and he seemed fine. In fact, when I tried to sit him upright to play - he protested. My only concern is water in his ears - any thoughts? Obviously we don’t put very much water in tub since he’s so young.

And crawling appears to be just around the corner!  BTW … how many trips do you think Aaron will make to The Alamo over the course of his life!?!

J Fam Updates … Babysitting!!!

Posted by Sue on April 19, 2007

They're funny!
I had the pleasure of watching Scarlet for 2 days this week!  I had a chance to get some photos on my second day.  (Imagine that!?!)  I just loved her expression in the shot above.  It was wonderful getting to know her better!  And I should add that raising babies is not one of the easiest of jobs in life.  As a matter of fact, there is a very good reason that young persons normally raise babies!  Wouldn’t miss out on these opportunities to help out though!!!

W Fam Updates … Aarons Takes a Bottle!!!

Posted by Sue on April 14, 2007

Missy and Peter had a wedding to attend so I got to babysit for 4 hours on this fine day.  What with Mommy gone for that period of time, a bottle feeding was inevitable.  Bottle feeding has been an adventure, to say the least, in the past!  YES … Aaron took the bottle this time!  He was rather amusing … as usual.  He would NOT lay down in the normal fashion to take the bottle.  He was VERY fussy if I attempted to put him in that position.  However, when sitting on my lap he would drink from the bottle.  As a matter of fact, he drank 4 ounces in this fashion!  A major breakthrough for our grandson when he should start drinking from a cup very soon anyway!!!

Amusing sidenote:  Mommy came home about 30 minutes later.  Even though Aaron had just finished drinking 4 ounces, the first thing he wanted to do was nurse!  And he nursed for the normal time even though he had just had 4 ounces of nature’s finest.  Guess it was worth it though as he ended up taking a 3 hour nap that afternoon!!!

W Fam Updates … Aaron Eating

Posted by Sue on April 12, 2007

Otherwise known as Target Practice!  Yes … can whomever is feeding Aaron hit the moving target?!?  And, obviously, Aaron loves to hold the spoon himself.  When I was feeding him, I just let him have the spoon until he was willing to give it up.  The whole routine is quite hilarious and ever so enjoyable!!!

Note to readers:  plain high chair seat covers might be less distracting to inquisitive children!!!
