W Fam Updates … Aaron Requires Medical Attention

Posted by Sue on October 23, 2007

Our grandson Aaron has been ill for about a week now.  When Mommy took him to the doctor this morning, he was a little dehydrated.  So he was sent to an outpatient facility at Methodist Children’s Hospital to have some IV fluids pumped into him.

There it was discovered that he wasn’t quite as dehydrated as the doctor suspected.  Thank God!  But it was still quite an experience.   According to Mommy, it took 3 adults to hold down this 13 month old while they put the IV in his hand.  And, after all that effort, he fell asleep with the IV still in his hand!

Now if Mommy could only figure out a way to keep pumping him with fluids!  It appears he does not like to eat or drink when he isn’t feeling well.  Sounds like he has some 2nd cousins with this problem as well!!!

UTA:  Just for the record … Scarlet has already had her fair share of illnesses in her first year.  I can recall twice when she was not eating or drinking well.  Just learned that it was the bubblegum Pedialyte that got her through those rough times!  Apparently there are a number of flavors from which to choose!!!

Fall Officially Arrives

Posted by Sue on October 22, 2007

The highs for Monday, October 22nd were in the 60s which is to say that Fall may finally have arrived in Texas … at least for awhile!  It was rainy, dreary weather but many (other than me) appreciate the arrival of the cooler weather.  For me, it is turtleneck and corduroy time!  Just an aside … the highs were in the 50s at our home in AR … oh happy days!!!

Scrapbooking vs Photobooks

Posted by Sue on October 17, 2007

Amusing YouTube video finds a gentlemen giving a tour of the “Scrapbooking Habitat.” Found this video on several blogs I read.

But alas … I have discovered the penultimate photobook site at www.blurb.com.  The one book I have created to date (our recent landcruise tour of Alaska) was indeed absolutely beautiful.  The quality of their books is the best I have seen to date.  I have read reviews to that effect as well so I would highly recommend the site to anyone who would like to consider creating a photobook as opposed to scrapbooking life’s journey!

W Fam Updates … Educubes

Posted by Sue on October 6, 2007

Aaron seems to be thoroughly enjoying his new “chairs” …

These came just in time - they are perfect.  He loves climbing in and out of them, putting things in them, sitting on them.  They are a perfect extension for him.  He also likes to use them like a “walker” - he pushes them around and walks behind them.  He has also started climbing in and out of the rocking chair that the Aunts got for him.  Yesterday during our dinner he climbed in and out of it and played with his phone - he was very content. I do think they will also serve the needs of the school well too because they do fit well with the tables.

Just now he used the educube as a stair - we are struggling with allowing him to stand in them or not.  He is standing independently (not touching anything) on the educube!  What a difference a week makes!  Sometimes his “exit” from the chair isn’t so graceful - but oh well.  He’s still learning.

We will get to witness this hilarity in a week and hope to catch a shots of the little climbing man!!!
