Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
Psalms 1: 1-3
I doubt this passage refers to literally “standing in the way of sinners” but it would be interesting if that was indeed an additional message. One can only give so much advice and then one needs to stand back and let others walk their own path. Now if I could just follow my own advice!

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
Psalms: 1-3
I think this passage sheds much light on the current situation in the Episcopal Church USA. I don't know any Episcopalians who don't love their fellow man regardless of culture, race or sexual orientation. However that does not mean that we need to condone, or for that matter bless, behaviors. To me, this is the crux of the situation.

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store awain in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Ar you not much more valuable than they?
Matthew 6: 25-26

The Lenten season is almost upon us. Time to either take up or give up a cause for the duration of this 40 day penitential period. I ran into these Bible passages recently and have decided that I need to give up my anger this year … especially my instantaneous outbursts when "discussing" controversial subjects with hubbie! Said another way … I need to take up peace on a full time basis!
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life the God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
James 1: 19-21
And now I can't find the other passage. Guess we already deleted it out of our email!
